A BAND OF VOTERS

BANDING TOGETHER TO CLAIM OUR POWER

A Band of Voters is...

A COLLECTIVE OF ARTIVISTS.

We are a A Band of Voters, a multi-cultural, multi-generational collective of activists, artists, filmmakers and student leaders.

DEFENDERS OF DEMOCRACY.

We believe that all citizens should have access to the ballot box – free and clear. If we turn out, we have the power to decide.

A NEW GENERATION.

We are the largest generation in U.S. History – and it’s time we claim our power. With our power in numbers, we can Party To Our Power all the way to election day.

Let's Party to the Polls.

Together, we can make 2020 the year a new generation claims their political power.

Join A Band of Voters and get our 2020 Voter Power Guide.

Our Manifesto

Artists have issued manifestos to signal new movements.

This is our voter manifesto.

Our votes are our power.
Our votes are valuable.
People have died for our vote.
Others have worked hard to silence our vote.
They are still trying.
Our votes are our power.
Politicians have jobs because we give them jobs.
WE have the power to keep them or change them.
At times the process can be frustrating,
but we must persist.
Our vote is our power.
WE will not be silenced.
Our future depends on it.
WE are the future.
We will live this future.
Our numbers are our power.
There is joy in collective power.
There is joy in exercising our power.
One need not be sad to fight for our future.
There is joy in voting.
2020 is the year we Party to Our Power.
2020 is the year we Party to the Polls.
2020 is the year we Claim our Power.

signed,
The Largest Generation in History

"Young people don’t vote." We say BS.

A Band of Voters began in 2017 as an art installation about voting. Seen by 50,000 people, we had the chance to speak with thousands of young people. What we learned is that this country has failed to TEACH the next generation how to navigate a complicated system.

Young people, especially those who are most impacted, often face the greatest systemic barriers to voting. Schools don’t teach civics. There is a resurgence of voter suppression efforts like new ID requirements. Many students are first first-gen. If you are poor, working class and/or a young person of color, your voter education is often non-existent.

Your solemn duty doesn’t have to be solemn.

With enough information, education, and inspiration these challnges can be overcome. Especially if we do it with our friends and help each other to the ballot box. In fact, there’s real joy in voting together, claiming our collective power and voting with our friends.

That’s why A Band of Voters will Party to the Polls. Our hope is that you will learn the 5 steps of voting, get to the ballot box and make Election Day the Party of the Year.

Some people want more power, so they suppress ours.

BUT WE CAN OVERCOME!

It can be done. And the fight can be won. Especially when we band together with our friends and use our collective power.

Our superpower. The joy of collective power.

Doing your solemn duty doesn’t need to be solemn.

Voting seems complicated, but it doesn't have to be.

There are many old and new systemic barriers. But one of the one of the biggest – and often hidden – barriers is that many people are never taught HOW to vote.

The news and information landscape is completely fractured. We don’t see the same news or the same facts.

Today, after the Supreme Court dismantled parts of the Voting Rights Act, there is a renewed push for voter suppression tactics like strict Voter ID laws and purging registered voters off the rolls.
